TECHNOLOGY TRANSFORMATION COMING TO DUKE STREET COMMUNITY HOUSE

Katie Hall MP, Member for Footscray, visited Duke Street Community House in Sunshine today to announce funding of $199,100 through the Community Support Fund as the centre celebrated the start of Neighbourhood House Week.  

The funding will be used to implement the “Create, Make, SHINE” project. This project will be used to refurbish existing learning spaces, as well as purchase new IT equipment including computers, iPads, and 3D printers.

It will also deliver educational activities to provide students with the necessary information skills technology, such as computer use, required for 21st century workplaces.

The project will benefit the residents of Sunshine and Braybrook, by offering new opportunities for training and education, in an accessible and supportive environment.

Duke Street Community House was established in 1973 to provide inclusion, education and support services to the Brimbank community. Its objectives include providing services to promote social justice and community strengthening, and currently offers programs including English as an Additional Language, basic to advanced computer skills, and internet use.
