A STRONGER MCAULEY COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR WOMEN IN FOOTSCRAY

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will support Macauley Community Services for Women to keep supporting women and children.

We’ll provide a $100,000 grant to help them support women and children who are experiencing homelessness and violence, keeping them safe and free from harm.

For years the McAuley Community Services for Women has supported hundreds of women and children, delivering emergency accommodation services, children’s programs, employment support and more.

Funding from a Labor Government will make sure they are well-equipped to continue to help local women and children of our community – ensuring that they feel safe and are supported through times of crisis.

The Andrews Labor Government is continuing its nation-leading work to end family violence and build a better future for Victorian women.

Labor will continue to deliver on our promise to implement all 227 recommendations from the Royal Commission into Family Violence, building on a more than $3.5 billion investment since 2015.

When it comes to gender equality, Victoria leads the nation. In 2021, Victoria became the first state to implement gender responsive budgeting and in this year’s budget, $1.1 million was delivered to further embed this practice across government.

This investment builds on the massive investments in community support already delivered by the Labor Government, ensuring women have accessible wellbeing and support services close to home.

In sharp contrast, when it comes to delivering the vital support that people in our community rely on, Matthew Guy’s Liberals can’t be trusted. Their policy of cuts and closures would leave locals behind.

Only a re-elected Labor Government will back the community organisations that keep our community strong – because only Labor will do what matters.

Quotes attributable to Labor Member for Footscray Katie Hall

“We know that inequality for women drives violence against women – that’s why we are investing to support women and children to have secure housing and support services.”

“McAuley Community Services for Women support women when they most need it. This funding will help them continue to do the work they do and keep more women from harm.”
