VICTORIA UNIVERSITY SET TO LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD

Victoria University is set to level the playing field and support more girls and women in sport and active recreation with the awarding of two research grants totalling $44,997 by the Andrews Government today.

Member for Footscray Katie Hall welcomed the announcement and congratulated Victoria University on their successful applications.

The Change Our Game Research Grants Program supports Victorian researchers to advance study related to women and girls in sport and active recreation and builds research capacity around women and girls in sport, leading to better outcomes for all Victorians.

Victoria University will use their grants to explore uniform options to increase the confidence of girls to participate in sport and physical activity in a school setting and for the ‘The Change Makers Project’, aimed at empowering football clubs on the journey to equality.

The Andrews Government is getting on with levelling the playing field for women and girls in sport and active recreation, with the research grants part of a $7.4 million government investment in the Change Our Game initiative.
