NEW ROUND OF GRANTS NOW AVAILABLE TO BENEFIT COMMUNITIES IN THE INNER WEST
Community groups have the chance to join over 200 successful recipients with applications for the latest round of the Victorian Government’s West Gate Neighbourhood Fund now open.
Funding is available for not-for-profit community organisations with projects that celebrate heritage, history or diversity, focus on arts and culture, emphasise learning and development, or enable greater participation of community members.
So far, the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund has invested more than $9.5 million into community projects like the upgrade of the Yarraville Seddon Eagles Football Club, which received funding for their home ground. The upgrade will incorporate new behind-goal netting to improve safety for players, spectators and neighbouring properties, along with kitchen and sound system improvements that will make the club more welcoming and enjoyable for visitors.
A series of exciting community events and festivals have been supported by the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund too. These include the upcoming Sleepless Footscray Festival, a vibrant celebration of our thriving African culture and arts scene, and Women of Culture presented by Songlines Aboriginal Music Corporation, which will showcase the beauty and strength of women in Indigenous culture via dance, live music, weaving and language workshops.
This round of funding will be offered through grants, providing funding for equipment, one-off activities or events, and enhancements to improve community participation, connectedness, and local environments.
Grants are available for initiatives in the Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong council areas to support communities most impacted during the construction of the West Gate Tunnel Project.
Projects should be completed by September 2025.
Applications for the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund are open now and will close at 3pm, Tuesday 30 July.

The project is connecting communities and making the inner west an even better place to live with 14km of new walking and cycling paths, new open space and $10 million in grants and partnerships to bring people together and deliver a lasting community legacy.
