Footscray High School Students Enjoy New Learning Spaces

Footscray High School’s senior students are now enjoying their very own campus, complete with state-of-the-art new learning facilities, thanks to a $25 million investment by the Victorian Government.

Minister for Education Ben Carroll today officially opened the Kinnear Street campus for year 10 to 12 students – the fourth stage of a combined $75 million infrastructure investment in Footscray High School, that is helping transform education delivery in the inner west.

The four-stage, five-year investment delivered the new Kinnear campus on the site that formerly housed Footscray City College, the new Pilgrim campus and a multimillion-dollar overhaul of the Barkly campus. Both the Pilgrim and Barkly campuses are for junior-level students.

The Kinnear campus upgrade was completed earlier this year. It now offers flexible learning spaces, a revitalised library and reconfigured classrooms tailored for contemporary learning at the senior level.

In addition to its new learning spaces, the Kinnear campus also offers a unique farm setting, where students can receive hands-on learning in environmental education and horticulture and can build a connection with nature.

The tri-campus Footscray High School is part of the Footscray Learning Precinct, including Footscray Primary School, Footscray City Primary School and the Billy Button integrated early learning centre.

The Victorian Government has invested $14.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,940 school upgrades in the past nine years.

This investment will ensure every child has access to modern learning spaces to get a great education, no matter where they live.
